Funny how the Arbtalk 'Tory boys' are very quiet on this thread!

Go on then Mr Eggs, I'll take the bait!

(Although I probably don't fully qualify as a "Tory boy")

Isn't Lancashire county council Labour majority?

Are they not empowered to manage at the local level?

Isn't it just bluster, smoke, mirrors & misinformation for regional / local government to suggest that local level management is the responsibility of national government?

There is still masses of inefficiency in public sector. It's about time the so called CEOs of councils (commonly earning 6 figure salaries) started managing effectively and stopped headlining with "it's central government's fault" for cutting our funding and choosing to cut or charge for services that are the easiest targets then tagging central government as the villain.

Having said all that, I agree that charging at domestic waste sites is short sighted and flawed. That's an example (IMO) of poor leadership from council cabinet / CEOs.

We've just recently travelled down this path in Cornwall and yes, early stats suggest that fly tipping has increased.

I'd agree, on the whole, that the measure is going to be counter productive and that improved control of trade waste going through the domestic route would be a better approach.

Is it a matter of national politics though? Not so sure.....

Perhaps the "Tory Boys" just get on the phone, and a nice man with a lorry come round with a 6 Yard skip, you give him £250 quid and he takes it away when it is full.

That is what I normally do. Much easier than making lots of trips to the tip and getting the car dirty.

Some folk can't afford 250 quid but most can find a quite country lane with a nice ditch:001_rolleyes:

Good man.

I normally get rid of any £10 notes in there as well, can't stand them cluttering up my emu-skin wallet.

Heres the full rules for our local tip for householders who already pay council tax SHOCKING:mad1:

Inert waste - Lancashire County Council

That is only the start of it. If you read the Lancs CC structure plan which includes aggregates and waste management the council have it totally sewn up with only sites and operations allowed which are in there structure plan. I requested our farm be included on the next consultation (2015) for biomass waste but they have totally ignored it saying if we want to have a biomass recycling plant then it would have to be built on the designated land. (Obviously owned by the council).

Very true this. On a weekly basis somebody will dump their unwanted fridge, sofa or rubble on the lanes around here :001_rolleyes:

I'm just watching waste men at the minute on bbc 2 it's quite interesting actually. Granted it's Newcastle council not LCC my county council, but it's surprising the efforts they go through to sort waste
