Amazing its not had a lightning strike.

Hell of a tough climb, one of those that has you scratching your head or thinking wtf am I doing here!!

But once you had got it done I bet the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment was immense!!!:thumbup1:

Once in a career tree for sure :001_cool:

I hope you had a throwing hook mate , that looks like some pretty physical climbing if not. great work and good to see preservation of such a magnificent tree.

must be good to traverse across the tops of the big limbs spread far apart, if the hook can be thrown far enough.

100 euros seems a lot for a bit of stainless tube, but can see the labour saving on a huge open crown like the Black Poplar

Its an investment , anything that can save your body and be productive is ok in my books , just remember the forces that can get put on those hooks , above 120 degrees puts your whole amount of weight onto that anchor point and hook so anything above that skyrockets the force 160 degrees is around 3 times the weight , to be fair you should not be putting that amount of force in your traverse system but you get what i mean, any old bit of pipe won't really do .:001_smile:

No it didn't. I'm not familiar with this

What they have done for a long time is take cutting from old black poplars around the river stour and the dedham vale aonb putting them in plant beds to grow on and then get land owner's and farmers to plant them on there ground to keep a magnificent tree in ower countryside.
