I think from 2012 up till last year stihl were poor but sinse then and loads of problems and complaints they got there act together. But I know a lot of stihl guys. Have moved over to the dark side, but will be back:thumbup:

Husqvarna have better antivibe, something that is underrated until you hit 40 (I have :D).

I can't really compare though: I've only used the 660, since the tree services firm I used to work for was Stihl only, and I can't afford a big saw of my own, yet. When I can I will favour Husky.

Yep got to agree with spud and who Would't. I never buy new. Was after a 460 but waited till I found a good used one and end,d up buying a 2009 then a couple of months ago I wanted a 660 Jon MENDIPLOGS had one and a 661 which he was selling but found one in Guildford which a old boy brought brand new from honey,s in 2009 he used it twice then put it in the shed. If I told you how much I got it for you wouldn't belaeve me. So if you like stihl just stick with them and either buy referbs or not after 2013. Just my opinion by the way. Don't want to start a chainsaw war:laugh1:

HI WAYNE good saws mate let steve have it to mate get a daul muffler too thanks jon

The original question was MS661 or 395XP, the MS660 and 395XP would be closer as both have been tested over time and are known to be solid work horses.

My views are always based on the build strength and known issues rather than using a saw of this size, something I rarely do!
