Im sorry but your argument is utter bull. Its all about supply and demand

Why do employers struggle to fill these vacancy's? Because they are hard work/antisocial hours for no overtime pay/exploitative/zero hour contracts=No reward for hard graft. what does Brit employee do? not apply for such exploitative jobs, Greedy employers solution= hire in more immigrants Race To The Bottom, End of.

Nonsense, many of the guys working on piece rate picking fruit make way more than most of the groundies on here. Well over £100 a day for many if they are fast enough.. Hardly exploitative.

Hmm, I see what you are saying but don't think that people aren't going hungry. Just look at the high demand for Foodbanks giving food parcels to people that don't have enough money to put food on the table.

They must be "time rich" though? If I didn't work I wouldn't be so far behind in the veg garden!

Dig for Victory!

Aren't we lucky to have veg gardens. Ever tried gardening on the seventh floor of some crumbling old tower block in Birmingham? Whilst working sixty hours a week for pittance?

Not my circumstances by a long stretch! But could you imagine it?

Well after a lot of reading and digesting I have come to the conclusion that things are constantly improving no matter who is in charge.

I'm not rich but I have loads of brilliant gadgets about, have a big TV , have access to loads of interesting programs, can potter about all over the UK if I wish due to having my own transport, go on some fairly decent holidays and have plenty of time to waste typing all this out on a forum.:thumbup1:

My Dad certainly didn't have much of the above and his Grandad had practically none.

Life isnt that bad when you look at what we have, as already said even the poor arent that badly off, the homeless probably have it better now than they didnt 20 years ago.

Due to a little incident earlier, the party getting my vote is the one who can get a company to make a toaster that will accommodate a full piece of toast without me having to jam it in there and toast it to perfection.:thumbup1:

good post. People forget what things were like only 20/30 years ago. I didn't have a fraction of what my kids have(and take for granted) these days.

What we have in this country is an immobile workforce. In places like Italy and Spain workers are happy to up sticks and go to where the work is. In this country people want work brought to them and unfortunately its not that easy, the migrant workers are exactly that , they go where the work is. The unemployed stats also dont take into account the percentage of those that are unemployable , there are millions in this country that have issues that render them unemployable . This as an employer narrows the choice and the migrant workers start to look like a no brainer, its not about greed and money because some of us just need the work done without all the flannel. I employ some Polish labour and pay them the same as any english worker, this unfortunately is because the youngsters around here have not got a days work in them.

The rich didn't get richer during the recession, they lost millions, well most of them did.

We have an odd concept of "the rich" , So for example the MD of a car parts supplier to the manufacturers will have been hit hard when car sales fell, he's still rich of course compared to you and me.. Whereas a russian oligarch who made all his money elsewhere perhaps wasn't affected all that much.

.

I'm sorry Tom but you're completely wrong, my old clients from Belgravia, Knightsbridge and Kensington etc etc ( some of them 1% ers ) openly boasted about the recession being good for business. Most of them you must remember obtain there money from some form of financial institution.

They also buy things cheap when recession hits as they can afford to sit on things until it has passed and cash in then.
