Once the footings were in and level the rest of it went very well. The cedar shingles were a bit slow going though - and managing my 3 year old helper slowed things down a little! Gotta go back and finish off a few little bits and pieces once I've got a couple of spare hours.

Few pics of the various log stores and assorted junk. It looks less messy in real life, honest!

It works out about 18m3 in total.

As I don't own the place I built a number of smaller stores that could all be put on a trailer if/when I move. Although in saying that I also built a 26'x10' shelter set in the ground, along with a shed :001_huh::laugh1:

(and planted trees/bushes, put down stone, dug ditches, laid paving, removed trees, got rid of bracken etc etc etc)

The all but empty empty log store is my dry wood!:laugh1: :laugh1:

I tend to let logs stockpile on the ground for months on end then do it all in a oner, split/barrow/stack

The biggest used to be used to store square hay bales.

Each bay holds 12-15 cube.

There are a couple of extras here which hold 3 cube

and 4 cube ( nearly)

Then there's the disused greenhouse which hold another 4 cube

and a couple of 'temporaries' for stuff I haven't split yet.

And finally, the store in the barn, which is my 'snowed-in' reserve.

That last one's an old photo, been emptied and refilled twice since then.

I do burn rather a lot though...

Phew! I need a pint.....

You've done a great job there Bob  I have a couple of four year old 'helpers' (twins) and a seven year old one too. They may just about be old enough to really help fill the log shed this spring I hope  I'll post some pics of mine on here when its full again (not much to show right now)

The best part is having approx. three years' supply of wood.

Saves me from being dependent on the quality of the next 'seasoned' delivery.

-The downside is when a delivery comes (usually 10 cube) I need to have it tipped outside the barn for me to hand-throw it inside. I wish I'd held on to the bale elevator.....
