Your first car ??

This was mine, bought in 1980, a Daf 33 variomatic, belt driven, air cooled engine, would go as fast backwards as it would forwards. The second pic shows the state of the art auto transmission. I used to work on these at a Honda / Daf dealership

When I got fed up of it I decided to try and kill it. We drove it through a drystone wall, ramped it over a salt pile, and drove it up amd down bankings, it ended up with no tyres on and smashed to bits, it still ran....

So we sent it over a ravine into the valley bottom.. surely it was dead now????

When we got down to the car the engine was still running, so we shot it with a 12 bore until it died, it took quite a few boxes of cartridges before it give in...

My second car was an Hillman Hunter, then a Triumph Herald and a wartburg 3 cylinder two stroke.

Mine was a 1990 Rover Metro, 1.4 SL, the SL made all the difference of course!! The best thing about it was that no matter how tight a corner you were going round you could force it into first gear and just keep going!!

I had it for 3 years, never checked the oil or washed it and it ran perfectly, When i was 21 i bought a 1986 peugeot 205 1.9 GTI, now that was an upgrade and a half, Wish to this day id kept that car, Truly awesome machine!!
