Trousers

I wear mine sometimes, even when I am not wielding a chainsaw. I find mine quite comfortable …… Oregon Waipoua type C

I have Husqvarna bib and brace trousers and wear them when cutting wood. My wife told me to get them after she saw a youtube. You can get class A trousers for £50 but you can get stitches and transfusions for free, you just have to choose.

My son bought me a set of Oregon `Yukon` class 1 trousers for Xmas, haven't worn them yet. He also bought me a set of Oregon `Fiorjland` gloves for my birthday last year ... so, that`s me sorted as I had the helmet & visor already ... can`t be too careful!

I tested a pair...........

Working late one November afternoon, wet cold and absolutely fed up, ready for home, was brashing some rough trees for the harvester, As I stepped back into an unseen drainage ditch which was about 2 ft deep. Husky 254 flat out onto my left thigh...........

Saw stopped instantly - trousers destroyed, underwear likewise, leg completely intact

Always wear them now!!!!!!!

 

This cracked me up sure it wasn't a laughing matter at the time though

Many (30+) years ago when fellling sitka in jeans and t-shirt I touched my thigh with a running chain which opened a 6" long cut in my jeans but drew no blood.

 

Shortly thereafter I was in our local chainsaw shop and asked if they had trousers in stock - "yes but they are £90 a pair - (deleted) expensive trousers!"

 

My response "Its a (deleted) cheap leg!! 34 short please!!"

 

Don't use a chainsaw without them

You take your chances in summer. Worked in mid 30s in France last summer and was more at risk wearing them i felt due to fatigue.

I wear type A's all year round , found C's got me in bad habits up trees cutting with over confidence and they are hot!

Over the years They have come in to use on a few occasions ...one coming to mind was in the snow and wind chogging down a large oak, I had one eye closed as saw dust was whipping up under the visor then I cut through a slime flux so was getting drenched in a brown poo watery mess , suddenly I could feel snow hitting my leg so let up off the saw and realised I had cut through every layer and it had pulled the trousers up a foot pulling out the Kevlar strands in the trouser leg ...046 didn't even know it was there until I had let off the throttle then the Kevlar strands did there job.. They won't stop the torque of saws over 60cc I learnt from that!

I must admit I've tested a few twice due to slipping in wet boggy conditions, once when dealing with a windblown tree and someone pulled the rug out from under me so to speak and one pair I just snagged when I was working in thick brambles and they caught the saw when I pulled it out the back of a tree and flicked it into the leg (worst heaviest most uncomfortable trousers I ever had to! first week, pity that )

I where type c all year. In winter usually with running rights underneath. In summer I cope just rest on a minute or two when too hot.
