This is your record Bewarethemoon!

My own view is that they are probably likely to be much more scared of us in a woodland situation, especially if we are armed with chainsaws and axes. Frisky cattle are much more scary for me, bulls in the wrong mood also!

Cannot see them living in towns, does it happen in Europe or Russia? They are just too wild.

I think that a well monitored and educated introduction in the right place, by that I mean all the locals being educated as well beforehand, would be o.k.

The main worry is the disturbance to sheep and cattle but there may be an area where the deer population is becoming out of hand and there is no farming and little human habitation where it would be appropriate.

Dare I suggest an uninhabited Scottish Island for a start to see how things progress? Could be a tourist attraction.

Exactly my thoughts.

The wolf is an intelligent animal, as long as they have prey to hunt they would avoid man like the plague.

Why the hell do we need to spend money on some harebrained scheme like this?

I know what it costs to shoot a deer, I can't see any reason for the population getting 'out of hand;. If there is such a population, then by all means direct myself and my buddy to it, give us an open license and we'll make a healthy profit...

Do you not think that the small island we call home is a bit too densely populated to

re-introduce wolves!! As for saying that we could do it in some remote part of Scotland I think the farmers and crofters that scratch a living out of quite non productive land might have something to say about another predator to kill there sheep which can do that quite well by themselves. The distances in the UK are very small as well if you think of the hunting area of a pack of wolves would need it will come in contact with Human population! The romantic idea of having wolves, bears & elk re-introduced is all very well but none of the people that think up this s%it live in these remote areas, It can't happen the bloody country is too small and densely populated.

Let's just ease back a bit boys. Not sure we have to worry about the release of predatory keystone species ever becoming a reality in the UK. DEFRA got their knickers in enough of a twist over the "accidental" release of Beavers into the River Otter. If they were going to go for it then a species such as the European Lynx (also an ex-native) would be a much better bet, it's not as adaptapable as the Wolf, which means it's less likely to start turning up in our towns and cities and will be less of a threat to our livestock, not to mention the Ramblers Association.

The NHS is scint, kids are livining in poverty. May be the urban wolf is the way to go we could feed them, the old, infirm an those on the poverty line! Save the NHS a fortune!

A new conservation group will need to be formed with charity status 2 full time employees and 150 undergraduates and retired school teachers furiously volunteering, and statistically they would reduce unemployment numbers.

All sounds good to me:thumbup:
