Well nobody is forcing anyone to celebrate it everyone had thier own opinion

There you go again, celebration is the mass, the birth of Christ our saviour, its not about who can max out their cards and payday loans buying into the gratification of mammon

When I was a kid the tree and decs used to go up on Xmas eve. Now we decorate about the 2nd week of December. I have to say I don't understand folk who put a tree and decs up in November:confused1:

because of "Pester power" and the huge ammount of money that can be milked at Xmas from parents feeling obliged to rack up dedt in some case..,the Media have pushed out the "Christ" bit in favour of a far more lucrative Kids-mas...Shameful really. Xmas was never about Kids...it was about the whole family. That has certainly changed.

Sad to see so little acknowledgement of why there even is Christmas.

Also strange how so many people now protest about any vestiges of christianity in our "modern" society yet happily go along with the exploitation of one of the most sacred times of the year.

Avoid the pressure, do your own thing and don't behave like the masses who have been conditioned to behave in a certain way without even realising it.

I used to enjoy the Carol service at our local Church.

Other than that a lot of mostly forced, debt inducing merriment and pointless waste.

Never mind the alcohol induced family squabbles.

Bahhumbug indeed.

PS

I do enjoy a beer or wine or whiskey bytimes.

Anyway, we open our Christmas present to the 2 sprogs tomorrow, a virtually untouched (other than oil heating installed) Victorian period detatched dwelling in Belfast

Still got the full lath and plaster ceilings etc, etc.

Previously, for many years apparently lived in by a Professor, and his Cook.

So hopefully the daughter bes cooking this year.
