Flu virus was doing the rounds here a couple of months ago. Short but sharp. Woke up one night felt like every bone in my body was going to break. Electric blanket on full blast plus duvet and a blanket and I was still cold. Couldn't move for three days, all of which I spent curled up on the floor in a ball. Then the headaches kicked in. Fortunately, no snotty nose or sore throat but took me about six weeks to fully regain my energy.

Just had 1.5 weeks off because of a football injury. Yesterday I got flu and feel like...

Sorry to hear that you had to play football.

I had man colds in the past, then I got flu. The difference is that when you have flu, if there were a button marled "die now to relieve the misery" you would press it:laugh1:

edit

I am sorry you had to play football as well

Yes if you have real flue you start by thinking you are going to die, soon you are hoping you are going to die!!!

I doctor once told me there is a easy test for flue, simply enter the sick persons bed room after speaking to them discreetly drop a £20 note within their sight from the bed. Later enter the room again, in the £20 note has gone, they do not have the flue.

I had flu about 10 years ago. I was burning up then absolutely frozen to the bones, cold sweats, hot sweats, crampy muscle spasms, aching bones and speaking absolute gibberish. I'd rather have been hit by a bus

It was that bad that its the only time my wife hasn't had a chuckle at my misfortune....

Truly do not put a really crappy cold down to being a dose of flu.

On a slightly different note, anyone ever had the "winter vomiting bug"?

We all got hit with it (me, mrs, two weans) about a dozen years ago, man it was intense. Totally debilitating for a couple of days, and then maybe another week odd to recover.

Thankfully unlike the cold, it's a virus that doesn't mutate as much and once you've had it there's a reasonable degree of immunity. Certainly in no hurry for it again either.
