Similar to google adwords

But with Google Adwords you only pay for the clicks that are made. No fixed subscription/entry fee, or impression fees at all.

And you can set your own daily cost budget, as well as turn off impressions of your ad within minutes (e.g. when busy or on holidays etc).

Waste of good money, and Yell.com is just as bad.

I also tried advertising for 3 months with Google ad words, analysing the results over a 3 month period is was costing me £12 every time someone clicked through onto my website. I am on p1 of google anyway in my area/field, the add simply put me at number 1. Another waste of money.

Parish type magazines I find quite good.

We cut back our yellow pages advertising a while ago. Was costing us an absolute fortune. Far more than we were getting in orders through it. The guy still comes round trying it on, bit embarrassing really. Word of mouth is the best advert, good product , good service and hopefully people will recommend you.

As someone said earlier parish and local magazines are good low cost source of advertising.
