So are you saying that you don't have any lead in your pencil cos you've worn it out sharpening your saw with it?

 

No, it wasn't like that, honestly....!

 

I normally mark the first cutter with a red felt tip or yellow crayon.

Anything that makes life easier wins for me.

I've just turned 45, I was blessed with perfect vision, but these day closeup stuff is getting tough, muscle memory really helps with sharping, I recon I could get a chain pretty sharp with my eyes closed.

 

Bright light helps, I worry that once I start will reading specks my vision will deteriorate?

 

As for marking chains while sharpening, I simply stop when I get round to the sharp cutters, even if my eyes missed it, the feel of the file will tell me I was there.

Starting to wear specs wont make your eyes worse,Had the same pair for 7 year now, not wearing them when you need them will give you headache, more so when on the pc, you think you can see ok but you cant, I thought a long standing post read " Mr silky saves the day" :blushing:
