Disagree. There's no such thing as an accident. It's either

A, someone doing something they haven't been trained to do.

B, someone doing something NOT in accordance with training.

C, not paying attention

Went through minor tendons and alot of muscle, they say i was a lucky guy. Im self employed so now looking for a Climber.

 

Lucky? Holy **** I guess 2 more seconds would have made it even worse. All I can say and I mean this, if I were closer I would gladly have try'd to help in any way I could. Am sure you'll be fine. That's one reason Arbtalk is here ,to help out when this happens. All the best to you fella.

Sorry, no sympathy here, actually I'm not even sorry for being cold on this.

Totally avoidable, going against all the common sense taught today about the use of top handle saws.

It's a mark of shame in my opinion of incompetance.

I suggest you invest in a new Silky and revise your work practices.

FFs guys climb off of your moral or alleged professional soap boxes , the guy has posted some pics of an incident that he had whilst working , unless you are squeaky clean and have never ever done a thing that goes against any sort of rule,professional conduct or law then you really are in no position to be so critical . There are many many college students that use the forum as part of education and experience gaining , this is what they need to see ! What happens when it does go wrong or you make a not so wise decision .

Had a similar nasty nip from a top handle end of August, around the wrist area. 4 days in hospital being flooded with IV antibiotics & op to repair damage. A week off to let the healing process do its best. Then a week on the ground not pushing my luck climbing. At the end of the 2nd full week, stitches out on the Friday back climbing the following Monday. 3 weeks from A&E to back in the saddle again, with a luvverly scar to show the ladies....

 

Its a buggering shite when it happens, but it happens. Thanks for sharing, complacency is a mistress that we all share from time to time, mostly we get away with it, but occasionally the bitch bites back.

Utter rubbish IMO.

 

Accidents do happen, with all the training in the world and shed loads of experience, paying full attention, following all the rules, etc, etc, things still go wrong, its not possible to always predict every possible consequence of an action.

 

Sometimes things just don't work out.

 

The only people who make no mistakes are the ones who do nothing.

Thanks for posting and fast recovery...

 

 

Threads like this are good IMO as they help to guard against complacency and taking short cuts.... I don't think there's any reason/need for people to take the moral high ground.
