You make me doubt myself, I have just looked at four different videos on u tube that show people climbing with spikes and all had the pads to the front and none to the back.....at least I'm in the majority ...at the moment. :001_tt2:

Looks like the spikes are the right way round to me? Thats how I wear mine with the padding to the front where the pressure is on your shins as your legs are locked straight. Is that the wrong way? I don't think so. :confused1:

Its the shanks that are the wrong way round, the buckles are at the back, unless someone has replaced the bottom straps and put them on backwards

You can put the pads on any way you want.

Yes I see what you mean if the ankle straps would of been put on the other spike it would make them easier to tighten/fasten.

You can put the pads on anyway you want, you could put them on your arms if you wanted.

I still think the pads should go to the front tho :001_smile:

I have my gaffs on the outside.

I've always found spikes really uncomfortable.

it's an old trick of the trade mate, especially stateside. Seen a quite a few folk do it by choice. Used it myself for years . You switch the bottom straps so the buckle isn't sitting right on top of that bone that sticks out the top of your foot, only hassle is it's not as easy to tie as when the buckle sits at the front.

You see where the buckle is on his spikes now, means it's just the leather strap that's going over the top of his foot, not the buckle, makes a lot of sense

nice guy - many mistakes - shame on the guys that taught him the wrong way, though you would think he would put 2 and 2 together -when lowering a limb - perhaps I should have taken off the lower limb first??
