UK winter weather ~ more wind & rain every year hereon?

My weather forecast on the telly just said dry tomorrow and very warm on Friday, its very nearly November for christs sake, wheres the freezing cold?

Iv'e been cross referencing charts back in late Oct/early Nov 2010 prior to the unusual cold and widespread sub-10 temps etc from late Nov to xmas etc but no correlation as yet with mild intermittent wet then drier daily periods of quick moving troughs then brief ridges for the next 10-14 days generally speaking but beyond that then lets see , all eyes on svaalbard for me

Winter does not get going until the second week in January and can last into April. I can remember waterskiing at Christmas and cutting the grass when I got home

Correct since November is still the Autumn.

So Dec, Jan and Feb bes the months to watch.

Anyway I still remember 1947!

The Met office can say whatever they want or dumb it down whatever way they want so the townies can understand, but winter begins on the 21st Dec and lasts till the 21st March. That's why when we get snow in March, anybody with a bit of wit isn't shocked or surprised because it's still winter!

 

"When the day lengthens, the cold strengthens". That saying is as true today as it was however many hundred years ago it was first used.

Makes me laugh when people buy enough logs to get through Christmas thinking spring is round the corner.

Best weather for business for us is cold and windy with the threat of snow but no actual snow. Very mild at the moment though.
