Hi Mike no I cut the ends to length then measured and cut out the slots one by one then with the back slotted in I carefully shaped the ends with my carving saw , the sanding took the longest if you get the slots nice and tight there should be no need for screws or pegs of any kind . Thanks for all your kind comments and do post some pics of yours if you do one
