Tesco going down what do you all think thanks

Lets face it most shoppers are women, not being sexist but they watch the adverts and believe that Tesco/sainsburys etc sell all the best quality meat etc. My wife shops at a Tesco , but she passes a brilliant farm shop selling local quality veg and fruit, and an excellent butchers but never uses one of them and now im going to punch her in the face:laugh1: joking apart a lot of people men or women seem to think that only supermarkets sell food?

Tesco are not as cheap as you think. If you use your loçal butcher etc you will often find that they (local butcher) are in fact cheaper for the same quality cut of meat. Unless of course you prefer the water filled chicken breast!!

 

I have yet to meet a butcher who can supply meat as bad in quality as Tesco.

That's true. I bought rump from our local butcher on Sat. From that was a huge steak sandwich for me, Thai curry for two and a Chinese for two. Cost...£6.00. Try buying at that price from a supermarket. Oh and a few raggy bits for the dog.

This is true, but over the whole spectrum of produce tesco must be cheaper than small time produce shops, milk for example at £1 for four pints- how can that make sense? Tesco is part of the mass-produced world we live in, possibly needed to support such a high population?

we wont buy chicken from tesco anymore as its pi55 poor, virtually inedible at times...it may be cheaper but if half of it ends up in the bin, its a false economy.

I do some work for a farm that is owned by a very large chicken meat producer (5 million killed every week) These chicks are bought in cramped in massive sheds (as on hugh fernleys programme) and slaughtered at 6 weeks . These are the kind of chickens you would buy at 2 for a fiver. They make 28p profit per bird we get 2 chickens for a fiver, everyones happy, god only knows what we are putting in our bodies.

I agree Mathew that there are a lot of products that are of course cheaper, including their offers which they unfairly dictate to their producers to get cheaper themselves, though there are a surprising amount that are not.

 

It is also surprising how often it is more expensive to buy bulk items than it works out to buy them individually.

 

I often find its cheaper to go to the corner shop as you do not go home with a load of crap that you did not really need or want.

Exact opposite here. I'd rather go in tescos than down our local high street any day!!

:laugh1:much like people driving in heavy traffic, brings out the worst in people. Tesco on a Saturday morning is sheer hell. The only time can face a supermarket shop is late at night.
