surely if its a manufacturing fault it should be done free under warranty!

 

They don't do that pump bore thing as far as i'm aware? First i've heard of it. But they will and should replace any faulty carb for free regardless of how old your saw is!!!

 

There is an old post in the chainsaw forum where I bought up my carb problem, went to the dealership I bought my saw from complained about the known carb problem, and they wacked a new one on, warrenty job free of charge no questions asked, they did'nt even check my old one just took my word for it, and my saw was 16 months old.

 

I think Stihl are aware of this problem, although a Stihl tech guy assured me the new carbs are sorted (my carb was a new D type and I can confirm its not sorted).

ms 200t carb problems we stock the piston pump kit and fit them for a total cost of £25 can be a bit tricky to do yourself as the carb butterfly is easily cross threaded brass screws ahhhhh we have done loads of them succesfully cures problem

Any good Stihl dealer should change your carb from a D to an E carb under warranty if your having the known problems the new E carbs seem to be better. Touch wood.

I used an Echo top-handled saw a couple of times, it had a nice long bar on it, and seemed a rearly good saw! But if i was buying one for myself i would buy Stihl everytime! Can't beat German engineering! They can't win wars but they build great chainsaws!

Did I read those few posts right about the carb on the ms 200's that are having trouble.

 

That the old style square bodied 020 carb will interchange with the present day ms 200????

 

That don't seem quite right to me that they would, but then again I haven't tried to see if could be done.

 

The 020 had a unique or let's just say different carb set-up to it than other saws do with that funky boot and flange.

No, its the carb of a 020T(plastic) fits the MS200.

I got to say the 020 is the best piece of kit I think ive bought. it may be old but if it aint broke then dont fix it
