7t or 10t splitter?

I was going to buy a 10t, but had a shot on my mates 6.5hp 7t last week and was very impressed.

The ram return speed was excellent.

We were on fairly easy splitting stuff mind.

Obviously the 10t will be better, but is it worth the extra cash and 60-80kg weight increase? I'll need to load and unload it onto a Transit bed on my own, using ramps.

Nearly all my logs are 12" max, usually less.

Opinions from people with experience of both would be most helpful, although drunken time-wasters are very welcome to participate as well.

I take it this will be a petrol or electric jobby Mark?

I have a twin power / speed pto one thats 8 or 16 ton, as log splitters go its about the best I have used really. If there is such a thing available in petrol or electric than Thats what I'd do. best of both worlds.

Just get your folks down to look after the kids and come to the APF, then you can try them all out....

get a 10t ner, be on top of the job, bigger is better

:thumbup1: totally agree but he,s putting it on his transit on his own, mine is a 13 tonner, no way could I drag it up a set of ramps as high as a trannie bed no matter how long the ramps were. The best way out of it would be to buy the most powerful one you can afford and invest in a small trailer.
