We run a 110 tipper does 28mpg loaded or empty. Carries a tonne legally and much more if required. When full it handles like a barge and stopping can be fun. Load space is limited as is cab space. I wouldn't change it unless it was for a 130.

Costs about 600 a year in repairs and servicing

A 130 will only reduce your legal payload.

The depreciation on landrovers has to among the lowest there is and will only improve when production ceases.

Transits will safely carry an illegal load better IMO, still illegal though.

Having owned loads of 4x4`s, including just about all the earlier landy products upto TD5 Disco 2, the best by far was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Way better off-road than any land rover and a whole lot more reliable.

The best landy I owned was an `88 defender 110SW, it only broke down 4 or 5 times (always at the most inconvenient or critical time though) which puts it top of the pile.

Better? Wonder why I had to tow one out the mud then?

Just found this thread, having a landy is a real labour of love. They are great, when fully loaded you do know about it especially when you have a ton of wood chips and pulling a chipper. It does it alright you just have to drive it like riding a motorbike expecting some idiot to pull out in front of you, as you may not stop in time!!
