My nan used to say that if you eat all the crust on your sandwich you'll have loads of lovely curly hair.

 

Sitting on cold wet surfaces gives you piles.

 

What about the touch wood thing, anyone know how or why that came about?

 

I think the church used to encourage people to have a bit of the cross to bring them good luck, apparently if you put all the relics back together the the thing would weigh several hundred tonnes which shows how awesome jesus was in carrying it, although someone had to help iirc
