If the rains set for the day its ex army goretex for me, not perfect but keep the worst out, prob not the best for a nimble young climber but fine for a middle aged plodder like me.

Think they cost me £70 bout 6 yr ago top and bottoms so not bad value as still going strong.

If you only wear a jacket your trousers get wet double quick..

The MOD stuff's OK, if a bit cumbersome, but mostly it's cheap so doesn't matter so much when it rips.

Find the best thing to do is have a few jackets and jumpers in the truck and there's always something dry to put back on after break or to drive home in.

Or, look out the window in the morning and if it's propper wet, light the fire and drink tea til it stops :thumbup1:

I swear by base layer/helly hansen type stuff, designed as a wicking layer so does not really absorb moisture. In the summer just wear it and u will still be comfortable in the wet.

I found them best when working nite shift cutting on railways throu the winter usually my work gear/rugby tops would be soaked with sweat and when u stpped could feel it freezing at smoko time, with the base layer u never even notice it and were comfy driving home in it

Heard good report about clarks cut and climb prob my next waterproofs

If you want to stay dry and warm....

Immersion suit

My brother got me one as a bit of a joke, but actually, if I'm out in winter repairing a machine its absolutely awesome!

Of course completely impossible for any level of active work, apart from restricting your movement you would rapidly overheat!

Clark's cut n climb jacket is very good in the trees.

If ime on the ground or hedge trimming i have a royal navy heavy weather goretex jacket which is made to first class specifications, with a hood big enough to go over my helmet.

By coincidence,my son in law is in the navy,so it didnt cost me too much.
