I had a month off a few years ago cos the doctor told me it would be a good idea. Found it really hard and counted down the month. More recently I had 9 months off while my wife was pregnant as she couldn't drink, only fair I thought and I needed to be ready for anything. Didn't bother me at all. I have 3 or 4 pints now when we go out to eat and stop when I get home for my sons bedtime at 7pm. Motivation is a big player I think. Once you get used to it its not hard you just need to break the habit. Good luck.

I hardly drink anymore just don't feel its worth it anymore I still have the occasional few social drinks but cant stand being plastered anymore especially seeing the trouble its brought to others close to me, at one point years ago I had to give myself a good slap cos I noticed id reached the point I was drinking everything in the house of an evening (inc stuff I don't like!) then going to the local hotel fer a carry oot, slippery slope especially with several alcoholics in the family already!

I like a couple of tins of a night and 4-6 on a friday and saturday often 5% cider. cut it down about 2 months ago and now 2 weeks since I touched a drop of anything. In the last week I have not missed it at all. I have noticed a big improvement in energy levels and get up an go. I dont get up at 4am for a pee and although it takes longer to nod off I now get a proper nights sleep. If you think you may be pushing the boundries you have already past them. I now feel like i did 20 years ago. I will still drink in the future but cant believe the difference. I think my down fall will be cold weather woodburner and spirits.
