If it needs a different rear diff ratio surely it will also need a different front diff ratio too?... Sounds like it could quickly become expensive...

I checked with SV Tech. It's only the rear axle assembly that's required. It is infact only the internals of the diff, but it's generally cheaper to get a new rear axle. A new one is £800-1000 plus labour, less for a second hand one.

Sounds incredibly cheap for a new rear axle - bargain!

I'm only relaying what I was told. I haven't verified the price.

amazed the front diff doesn't need to be swapped out too as i assumed it would suffer from transmission wind up?

It would on old school 4wd systems with centre diff locks, most modern 4wd vehicles use traction control systems ( brake grabs a spinning wheel) so there is no need for centre diff locks. The only thing that would change with a taller diff one end is the torque bias.

Incase anyone is interested, my very lovely 2012 4x4 Sprinter is on eBay now. I'm just not using it, so it's for sale. You'll not find a better example, and studies have shown that such a vehicle makes you at least 34% more manly ?

Happened across this photo yesterday, around 99/00, after the Ford P100 I bought this, the first of two red Hiluxs, this one is the non turbo, bit gutless by today’s standards.

Vanity plate and BFGs, I’d really arrived!
