My first chip truck! Collected this Transit tipper from Peterborough yesterday and straight into action this morning.

03 plate, but was one of a pair with only 45k on the clocks. Made it all the way North last night without a hiccup.

Will give it a couple of months with the lift, to see if its worth leaving on, or ditch it to gain more load.

 

Be careful towing the gm with the hopper folded - they can be a bit top heavy and prone to tipping. I would only fold it up for storage personally. Great chippers though!

But I think would get a double cab, tools on back seat,

I think I want the new shape dmax, not old rodeos

Whats the size of fuel tank?

 

Had one on a demo. DMAX this is some truck!

 

DJB from East Allington, Devon had one - 170K on the clock and only replaced just a tail light bulb from the day he bought it.

 

Strangely, having made a bit of money, he bought a brand new one!

I'd heard that before. Not had a problem in the 2 years I've had it though, but I'm always cautious on the bends and bumpy stuff.

Like I said... The hydraulic ram that lifts the tipper bed "over extends" all the weight of the bed is transferred past the point of no return and the bed won't return. Mechanical assistance from a tractor bucket or similar is needed to pull it back over so it will return. There is no possibility of the bed falling down.. Even if the hydraulics failed or ruptured.

Thanks for your concern though....
