Climb or mewp

In 20 years I've not had a tree I've climbed fail on me and if I can get the price of a MEWP on the job I put it in my pocket as profit

not seen many jobs where I've thought 'this i'll be quicker with a mewp' but **** loads where I've thought this will be easer with a mewp!

I have nearly everyday,roadside trees,dead trees dismantles ,crown lifts etc depends on the Mewp but very quick set up times less than 3 min you can be at your cutting point .I agree with you on ease of working in some situations and if you have one you tend to use it,if you have to hire one in it becomes a bit like a crane only if I really need to.

At the end of the day everybody's businesses and business models are different and so they should be.

Exactly, you need experience working for an arb company. No wonder our industry isn't taken seriously. I know this will be offensive to many on here but I slaved my nuts off in someone else's firm and payed for my own education in this field until I knew I was or would be deemed a competent arborist. I must compete for work now with people who need advice from from cyber warriors like myself on how to do a straightforward job. By the way Id much rather you ask on here than get yourself hurt so Im not bashing you asking. The tree from the pictures looks straight forward, we cannot however tell you what the base looks like, if it doesn't look safe to you ask for a second (in person) opinion or cost in a mewp. Abuse and tongue lashings accepted.

I'd rather replace worn parts on my mewp than worn parts of my body. Knees, hips etc etc etc

There might be some dead in the tree but there also looks to be plenty of green left in it too. How long have the dead bits been dead ?
