did one like that, large beech, from a small river. put a tirfor on the trunk, and severed the trunk just above the root plate, then winched the whole thing bit by bit up the bank.

Sounds like a plan mate - anyone want to hire us a tirfor for the day....? :001_tongue:

I'd take a panel out of that green fence and winch the whole stick back round and out, we have done a few of these lately, in fact I have another to look at tomorrow..Just don't do it while the river is in flood..

Oh yeah, its a canal, lol.

Nice work on the vid mate.

No access behind the panel, its a severe bank all the way around on that side, then continues to fall away on the opposite side so no access for anything more substantial than a wheelbarrow!

Simon

HSS hire shops have tirfor winch available for hire. Up here on Leeds Lpool canal at back of house they have two barges one with mini digger, other has a jcb and big winch. The thinking being if they have that kit here hopefully they will have it near to where you are working. Good luck and enjoy the challenge, I'm sure you will crack it.:001_smile:
