I'm told on good authority, that the person in question now deeply regrets that picture, immortalised forever as not what to do:biggrin:

 

I think this is a rather lovely example of the 'half life of facts', a scientific paradigm in which an indeterminable half of everything we know now as fact will at some stage be disproved.

In the bottom right hand pic he appears to be using what I think was a device known as a haebler prussicker ( not sure on spelling ) one of the earliest mechanical devices and considered lethal by many but I knew a few guys who climbed with them for years with no ill effects !!..

 

Like this one! Just realised when i saw your quote I actually own one.....old school and new school together!

I quite beleive that many things in our lifetime will be proven, disproven, and proven again so long as we live long enough.
