Some interesting comments there. Lets try and equate this to your businesses. As professional tree surgeons How do you feel when you are undercut?. A guy comes along and does the job for 25% less than you quoted. Does that make him too cheap or does it make you too expensive?

Thats life pal but we dont have a big firm to wipe our bums and protect us.

I fear you would struggle in the real world.

it is very strange this Policy that stihl run in the UK.... here in France you can order a stihl online and have it delivered straight to the door. never had a problem and there are some good offers about.

Good enough offers to buy some up and ship them to the UK ?

Amazing that a company in 2014 is trying to avoid the internet.......

Morrisons Supermarket tried this with old man morrision who said " we don't do the internet" its cost them millions

stihl problem is that the internet shortens supply chains

That means some dealers/suppliers get cut out

But if they don't use the internet they lose sales just look at number of guys on this thread who've gone husky

At some point stihl ( head office) will notice stihl ( uk) have screwed up and they willhave a FRANK AND OPEN DISCUSSION andolicy will change

Until then the future is husky

That reduces prices and keeps them competitive

Clever policy for stihl would be to go heavily online at very competive prices, suck retail profit into head office, and appoint Repair Agencies who just do warranty work for them......

I agree re Stihl's attitude- very German. Ve know best! I buy Stihl because it's dependable and the residual value on eBay is sky high. With my policy of keeping machines for one or two years, I seldom have to worry about spare parts so that's not a concern to me.

I've always been a Stihl slut :blushing::lol:

But Rubin me old mucker does that not shoot itself in the foot . You agree with Stihls policy on no online sales / posting but its ok for ebay to post them on when you have finished with them ....:001_smile:

No, I was agreeing with the poster before re Stihl's attitude.

What I was trying to say is that I their don't let their attitude bother me as they are good machines.

How can Stihl discriminate against UK consumers in this way?

I would have thought EU rules would allow an order to be placed online in any EU country for delivery in any other EU country. So let's have a link to the French online store, place an order and see what happens.
