Both manufactures watch the forum, neither contributes, but I would imagine husky are watching these type threads pretty smugly!

If Stihl and Husqvarna read these threads can they explain why saws are so much cheaper in US than UK ? If something is made in Sweden surely it should cost less nearer to home.

You'd think the buggers at Stihl would realise it's a dumb move after reading these threads! Or even just the chainsaw pictures thread which shows their shrinking market share.

Well for what it's worth my next saw is going to be a 560XP

I am a Husky man so not affected really . Remember Stihl do sponsor this site so go easy on the dissing !

True not saying bad things about Stihl I sway both ways (saws that is) but the 560xp is sooooo sexy

The reasons why are because Stihl and Husqvarna treat each part of the worldwide market according to out right sales and volume. The market share

In the UK is a certain percentage and based on number of units sold annually

and spare parts determines the price of goods sold. If you compare the market share of North America to say all of Europe, and the UK your would discover that the North American market is much larger in comparison.

Now I agree that the prices of their products should be cheaper the closer they are to where they are manufactured, however the why part is above my rank and pay grade to figure out:sneaky2:

we are part of Europe, so there is nothing to stop you buying Stihl products anywhere in Europe if they are cheaper than the UK.

Ian based in south east London and my stihl dealer is the mutts nuts. And I have all ways used stihl. And when it comes to chains I carry 4 chains to each saw so I don't have to sharpen on site.
