What boots

I need to buy employees new boots and was wandering what the best boots are. We have had meindl, elton, stein over the years but rarely get 12months out of a pair. I now have gone back to Klima Air as my first pair lasted 3 years but at they are £200+and we allow £150 for boots.

 

What do you guys reccomended? Is there a decent pair for £150 or should I just increase the boot allowence?

you could always say to the guys that you will pay the first 150 and if they want anything over then they could pay the rest.think thats quite fair.

Aquafell Experts are pretty good and fairly close to £150. Never had any probs with mine. If not, I think Taff's idea is a good'un:001_smile:

I wear Haix Blue ridge.....Very comfortable even in the first few days and very waterproof. Most people i know who wear them at work speak highly of them.

Haix all the way- 2 years from my last pair, although they were very uncomfortable when i finally did change them, but still in one piece.

I ended up with hiax protector extremes took over a week to wear in but gr8 for spiking and standing in v forks.

they are abour 240-250 but i would expect an easy 12months from them.

 

Plus they are class 2 so almost muppet proof:sneaky2:

Haix Trekker Mountain here.

 

Very, very comfy and can be in spikes all day and not notice.

 

Also Goretex lined - I have never had cold or wet feet.

 

Usually last about 18 months then the sole peels away from the upper at the toe end.

i think that 150 is a very generous allowance for boots. You should be able to get some good boots for that. I ware the elten aquafells, they're sympatex and have never let me down in wet weather. They're reasonably comfy and rigid so are ok with spikes. Not had any problems when climbing in them. Seen them for between 120 and 140. The only negative is that the outer material is wareing away. Going to get a new pair at the AA trade fair thinking of taking a look at the haix protectors, or the tibets. The bloke i work with wares stiens. Took quite a while to break in but he reakons that they are very good for climbing in.

I recently got some meindl airstreams and they are very comfy and lovely to climb in....a bit on the pricey side though at over 200 quid!!!
