The only time I've smashed multi tips is on a 60hp grinder and only after much abuse I'd be thinking casting falt for the broken teeth and be investing in a spade to clear round stumps a bit in the future.

Yeah is on a turntable. Does make life a lot easier. Always try to make sure theres no nasty surprises around the stumps. But if it means you have to spend half the day digging surely it would work out cheaper to add a set of teeth to the quote that half a day labour.

We always put in the cost of new teeth. Big stumps and/or lots of stumps and/or metal/stone/concrete means more teeth. Can quite easily get through 5 pairs of lead teeth in a day. It's much more efficient to change them and chuck them than to spend time sharpening. Not to mention the health hazards associated with sharpening them.

We have a lot of flinty soils around here so often get teeth like those in the picture.

the two that got smashed were the leading teeth the others stick out less .I have noticed that multi tip dont like rocks much.i have at least 50 teeth that have had their carbide smashed off

if the seat damage isnt too bad you can sweat the old off and braze another tip on

They were brand spankers before I commenced grinding. Think next time I do flinty soil ill charge for new teeth on top.

Yes why not :001_smile: I always find if I am Grinding stumps on an end of row plot . They always seem to be the worse by far as builders bury all there crap on last plot :sneaky2:

You could always do a small test hole dig with your spade to check the ground before grinding .

Investigating the soil around the stump is a must.

Due to their design, the nice thing on mutli-tip is, you only smash the 2 leaders, not all 16 teeth at once.

My reason to switch both machines.
