Years ago I used to help a TV aerial installer at weekends and one day he froze on the roof crawler, I had to go up and talk him down as he was having palpitations. He packed up not long after that and set two younger lads on to do the leg work. It's not always rational and there's nothing to get hung up about.

Not sure I buy all this "instinct" stuff, don't we train ourselves to overcome our instincts when hang on a bit of rope 60+ft up??

I try to use my brain and experience to decide what actions to take.

Some times it just don't feel right......I'd prefer to climb out of the hole (in my line of work), than get pulled out of it.......

Always told myself to believe in your ropes and anchors. and to concentate basically on the 6ft of the tree above and below you as beyond that its going to hurt you. A lot is in your mind control and compartmentalising, concentrate on the job in hand and dont let outside influences affect you if they are not applicable to the immediate job . Hope this makes some sort of sensce

Once doing big leggy ash trees in the snow, trees were covered in ice and they were reacting very strangely when cutting, I wasn't used to it and it freaked me out.

Took about 10 mins to accept I was bottling it, came down and beat myself up for days!

The snow all melted, the sun came out and I returned a week later and 3-4 cuts, 15 mins from start to finish and job done!

Felt like a super hero again :)

yeh ive gota say ive had a few moments when ive thought what the hell am i doing but i always find once the saws on that all disapears and just get on with it , i always find that if there are certain bits of the tree that your dreading and its possible do straight away then i always get them out the way first then you can enjoy the rest of the tree otherwise your spend the entire time thinking "oh great ive still got that bit to do" get back on it :thumbup1:

Lack of sleep, skipping breakfast, too much the night before:blushing:, stress, other things on your mind, start of illness - could be anything?

Good that you sensed it and found a way to safely finish the day whilst achieving the set work:thumbup1:

Regards,

Steve.
