Blackthorn in flower, helped finish off a fell on a Sycamore today and sap was leaking out. We have Welsh Poppies in flower in the garden.

The trees in flower are a lifeline for our bees, they have been in the hives throughout the winter and now is the start of their foraging.

I was felling stuff at the beginning of Jan that the sap was up in!

So far this week Sweet chestnut is rising

Birch in bud

Beech in bud

Going to be some wet stuff in the firewood stack.

We felled a gurt oak around 15th Jan and the sap was pouring out of it.

The stem was felled 'downhill' and the sap came out of the top of the stem at such a rate that we estimated that an hour would produce 5 litres at least.
