You will need your CS 38, & CS 39-use of chainsaw from a rope n harness-any reasonable contractor wont go near you unless you have these NPTC recognised qualifications. After that-if you have a head for heights and are reasonably competent etc the average daily climer rate (depending on your skill level & equipment/reputation) you could be looking at anything between £100-£ 180 per day...Best of luck, Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd. Advise as CS 41 dismantle also.

Groundies are labourers, climbers are the tradesman!

It's up to you which you want to be.

Rubbish.

A decent groundsman is a trade. Pruning, technical rigging etc. you can have the fastest climber in the world on some jobs, but you still need a solid groundy for a job to run smoothly.

Problem is that not enough people want to be a good groundsman. They want to get straight into the saddle. I can see why too, as career groundsmen are generally undervalued and underpaid.

Disagree totally......a climber can climb and cut all day long but without a decent groundie clearing up...chipping...dragging brash....your climber is nothing.

I climb and groundie and feel both are jus as important to a job
