Mr Squirrel's post is far from measured and sensible.

Why would a country strive to 'hit above its weight' as some put it? And what grounds does the UK have to do so? Norway for example, I can see having reason to, but they don't really.

Why do the SNP and pro independence supporters always cite Norway as an example for Scotland to follow?

Norway has just elected a Thatcherite government.....so could someone from the YES camp please explain how Norway is the model for Scottish independence?

An independent Scotland would be the most socialist country in Europe, if it isn't already. A state based on the empty ideology of welfare-ism. The Norwegians are actively moving away from that kind if thing.

Well, a bit more measured than the naziism comparisons you were making a few pages ago.

this?

He definitely recognised the negative impact of nationalism in Germany in the 30s when it coincided with the rise in persecution of the jews and other people who didn't conform to the nationalist ideal

There are people behind the scenes in the SNP that hold extreme views, Salmond and Sturgeon are tame in comparison.

I'm not saying the SNP are Nazis, I am however saying there are people within the ranks of the SNP who would be only to happy to see dissenters silenced in a SNP run independent Scotland.

having lived in a sovereign state where your laws and courts are based in london, i can not see any reason to vote yes for this, the travel visas and work permits required are bad.

nobody on the yes side has stated how they will get spain onside?

there will be no Scottish bank notes come a yes vote, so problem solved:laugh1:

Someone pointed out to me that when gov't set fuel duty it forgot we actually do have a land boundary with eec

This is between N Ireland and Eire

Result is everyone in N Ireland drives to Eire to full up their tanks because it was much cheaper...( not sure what situation is now as this was few years ago)

But I think important thing is that London didn't even consider N Ireland when it thought about fuel duty, because to them ONLY LONDON MATTERED......

I think most of UK problems stem from this London centered thinking ......

In 1980's 85% of redevelopment money was spent in London

We all knew £1billion on Millenium dome was bad idea but they spent it......cos London wanted it

London has currently huge property bubble, when it bursts we'll all feel the waves ..........

:confused1: You expect one small area where people can drive to buy cheaper fuel to affect fuel tax for the whole UK??????????:confused1:

Youv'e missed the point

london ONLY thinks about London - they didn't even think UK had land boundary with EEC

Most people from London have never been North of Watford Gap .....when they go on holiday they go to Spain .....

But they think they have a RIGHT TO BE HEAD OFFICE, for the whole of the UK

Its just not acceptable
