Noticed this house today as i drove past. No camera with me so an image off Google earth. Not your usual Laburnum House, Oak Cottage etc.

The name reads: American Shellbark Hickory House, 1926.

Our house now has a fairly conventional name, but on the deeds from when it changed hands in 1986 its correct name for the postal address was still 'The thatched cottage on the lane leading to the mere'

I used to live in "The Cedars", a very grand name. In reality it was the old telephone exchange, bedroom; shower/toilet; living/dining/kitchen, all in a 10' x 20' shed - and not a Cedar in sight!

My mate had the classic one "Llamedos", Those who don't know read it backwards.

There is a house locally called Mulysa, spelled backwards? :)

There is a house In Bowness in the Lake District called Dick Intake, I always chuckle every time I go past. I looked at a job there once and when I asked the address I laughed down the phone, I never did get the job:)
