poor 4x4 performance

Cough cough

I believe it was a Mog in the photo somewhere above.

That required 2 expensive tractors to extract.

Essentially a lot of the "non sticking" tyre comes down to tyre circumfrence, to put a larger footprint in contact with the ground.

Also allows the tyre to better/easier "climb" out of the rut.

Part of the problem with the average trailer tyre is the smooth profile.

Which allows the towed wheel to stop rotating and therefore stop "climbing"

And rather start bulldozing the mud in front of itself, thereby causing excessive drag.

For this reason it actually makes sense for a non powered wheel to have tread technology that allows it to "grip"

Look at slurry tanker wheels/tyres for an example.

Quite often not dissimilar to the rear tyres on the tractor.

Strange but true.

Also the higher axle keeps the undercarriage clear from snagging.

that will teach me for not looking at all the pictures on the thread:blushing:

i should have said get a better mog:lol:

i am under no illusions as i know anything can get stuck.

Google Ashcroft they sell it for £245.00

I think pre face lift, the kit works but after that all the bits inside are missing. The vehicle is at end of life now for us should be sold in next few weeks. I thought about getting it done when we bought it 5 years ago but decided to hang fire until gearbox or clutch went but both have hung in there. Thanks for the info :thumbup1:

With these modern powerful 4x4s, third gear, diffs on and drop the clutch with big revs and keep the revs right up spinning the wheels as much as possible, cleaning the treads .

You will be surprised just what you can get away with with modern kit.

My rodeo had a 3rd gear start button made hell of a difference put all the torque down without spinning.
