The best iteration I have yet seen for a horizontal splitter was at the last APf.

An American built machine, with a single pusher plate centrally mounted, feeding 2 different splitter blade set-ups, 1 at each end.

1 had a horizontal blade mounted about 150mm above the base, this split large rings down into smaller chunks which could then be furthur reduced by the blade set up at the other end.

Very very slick in operation, breaking down mixed size rings or blocks.

And no lifting.

stuff fell off the ends into bulk bags.

Do tell how it splits on the return stroke!:001_smile:

 

I'm not an hydraulics kind of guy:blushing:

 

The ram goes from the end it is in the photo to the other end (you having previously placed a lump in its path ) as it splits the first lump you put another against the anvil that it first left and on the way back it splits that one ...and so it goes on .... :001_smile:
