rope guide

Good choice John. Great investment.

All of the above tips, and the frictionless gliding around motion may feel a bit weird at first.

Retrieval is a bit dodgy if choked too tightly so give it a trial retrieve whilst setting it.

Don't set it in a tight v then have to climb and retrieve it by hand on the wrong end of your rope on a Friday afternoon when all the lads sit in the truck bursting to go to the pub and refusing to help you 'cos you told them it would make everyone's life much easier.

Everyone has said most of the main points. They are awesome bits of kit. Like everyone has said, cut the shrinkwrap and anything that could get stuck straight off. Do you use a Lockjack John? You put the two together and the lack of friction is scary!!!

I have never used rope guide, so may have completely missed the point here, but I attach a pulley to the small eye of my cambium saver with a mallion. The combination costs about £15.

What am I missing that's worth an extra £115?

Does you're rope go through the ring and the pulley or just the pulley?

It goes through the large ring and the pulley. I realize there's going to be a little more friction than if it were just through a pulley, but is it worth £115?

It may well be, as I said, I've never used one.
