Hardship Fund

I read almost each week of those hard working self employed and small firms who have had tools, vehicles and valuable produce stolen by those too lazy to earn a real wage. This often has a severe effect to the victims which insurance never covers. I know the APF used to have a welfare fund to help those in desperate need including those who lost a loved one at work.

Is it not time for the insurance firms and courts to organise a fund for outside workers? Even £10 from each insurance premium should be a start.

what a good idear does the arb asocation not do such a thing to loose your tools you need for work and to find that the insurance will not pay out or only part fund it it could break some people. i only lost £500 strimmer but it hit me as could not aford anew one insurance excess was £500 so out of pocket and no hedge trimmer to do work. luck had it that i got hold of a second hand tanaka. and works fine so can carry on doing hedges.

but hearing what some have lost and in the thousands to be thinking covered only to find there is a loophole in the insurance to pay out

What really needs doing is machinery theft needs to be taken seriously by machine manufacturers, importers and dealers.

Insurance companies have the power to make them take it seriously, but at the end of the day is it really in any of their interests to stop it? after all it's all about making sales.

And between them they could make a huge difference to machinery theft if they really wanted to.

What really needs doing, apart from this, and I agree totally, is for machinery theft to be taken seriously by the Courts.
