Watch a member of the public chainsaw a fallen tree today. On the corner of a busy road and footpath. No warning sign's no tape no chainsaw trousers or boots but he did have a chainsaw helmet which he never used the visor o and a hi viz vest. So fully covered for h & s. What a Plonka

We all did it the same way years ago.

I have done 100's of tonnes of firewood the same way, back in the 80's and working miles from anywhere on my own too. (no mobile phones either)

 

I suspect that many others have done, and still do.

 

I wonder what the percentage of accidents is compared with the percentage of accidents in trained operators?

It would be really interesting to find out. I suspect if you total up on a pro rata basis of hours of saw use that the part-time user without training and PPE have many, many more accidents than professionals. Just my guess.
