Broke the muffs on my helmet and am looking at what options are on the cards.

New helmet?

New ear muffs? headband or helmet?

Ear plugs?

If I go down the new helmet route is the husq the best all round choice?

My current one is Stihl, not hugely impressed with their budget one.

I'm half tempted to just get some decent muffs and do away with the helmet as I'm carving only, not doing tree work, but then having the mesh visor has it's uses.

I suppose I could try the ear plugs and if they work for me I could carry on with my not so great Stihl helmet.

What helmets/ ear protection are you guys using and recommending?

Cheers,

Si

The budget STIHL helmets are utter rubbish. The ear defenders don't fit properly and the shells bend and the vision from the visor is horrid.

I use one of the new Husky ones with Sordin 31dba ear defenders. Top stuff.

33 quid for the hat 15 for the ear defenders.

Had a stihl budget one on the floor behind the passenger seat, had to pull up quickly and a box of 250 cartridges slid off back seat and crumpled the helmet like it was made of paper.

Got one that only gets used for strimming, nothing heavier duty. :001_smile:
