I actually asked the crane guys about riding the hook... yeah no problem was the reply providing there was no load.

 

That technique may have been required if I had had to cut more of the Ash on the house. Luckily the tree was fractured so much I didn't need to cut much.

We took this one off a car today, the driver survived but was lucky IMO,
