Next to a busy main road. Luckily set back far enough that it only crossed the footpath nearby. Need machinery to get a load of this dragged out. No chance two of us could have got the big piece down safely at 3pm on a friday!

Wheredo I stand if I come across a fallen ash in the road, and I start to cut it up and clear it for the timber. Can the tree owner ask for it back, and can the police tell me not to do it as I am not on the approved list?

I would think the answer is you can't touch it because it's not your contract, probably you won't have the correct signs and traffic management etc.

I have cut up loads of trees on back roads with the police there just to get home and they were glad I was doing it, 99% of human beings would raise a glass to your hard work but unfortunately the other 1% make all the noise and ruin I mean run the country:sneaky2::biggrin:

all of the above are correct

all our tree across road jobs are normally ROAD CLOSED either by the police or LA

if it's a tree from a private garden and the roads closed i would imagine the home owner would be glad for someone to cut it up and take it for firewood rather than get a hefty bill from the LA

Got a call Saturday night, customer had a large ish euc in the back garden which they had just noticed a new "lump" in the ground at the base!

I advised it was the root plate beginning to lift, and we arranged to remove the tree Saturday morning.

At least I didn't have to climb it!!
