  1. A nice beech & oak from last week along with many others we had ... Working along side bearded munch !! Turned some of the beech into something really nice .. Firewood 👍!!
  2. Head torch is the way forward , we shall order a few tomorrow , it was an epic just like the time I danced with electricity on another call out !
  3. On a call out recently that bearded munch and I received was a total road closure , police both ends and in between was a multi stemmed oak that brought down an ash tree about 60ft and straight as an arrow . It came out of a woodland resting on a stone wall and the main of the branches crossed two sides of the carriageway , we decided on further inspection to use the lights off the van and the police car to light up the arrear but after 5 mins of cutting the lights off the vehicles were blinding me so I decided to go with out any lights at all and believe it or not I found myself working in darkness ! Complete darkness but the job was getting done in a methodical manner me cutting and bearded munch dragging and chipping , after about 3 hours of cutting and clearing we had a good look with torches etc to see what was left , what was left was a treble stemmed oak and a single butt of Ash resting in a precarious position over a stone wall , between bearded munch & I the police and the stand by officer we decided that the tree / trees had to be dealt with there and then , after getting the ladders out and climbing up and onto the stone wall I could see it wasn't going to be as easy as I first thought , 4 ft drop into a void a resting tree/ trees on the wall dangling over the main road and all coming off a steep bank a mountain goat would have had problems keeping grip . I walked up to the up rooted root ball first to ascertain the situation , not good at all multi stemmed tree/trees resting on mud bank and walls , " umm how do I tackle this " I was thinking , as you know you can't go on a training course for this sort of thing this was just going to be a cut and pray job .. " Switch all torches off " I said as I was getting blinded I decided to go in blind so to speak I was cutting , clearing , praying , shaking the lot ... Crazy I know but I truly believe that night my guardian angel was with me ! The job could not of gone any better if it was on level ground in daylight ! Skill or stupidty ? .... What crazy things have you guys n girls done , lets hear them ! Stay safe ...
  4. Ha ha ha Fecking clowns lol ... You're so lucky to have me lol !
  5. I was a grave digger for many years all by hand when I was doing it , new graves , re opens ( gone through the box a few times ) exhuming is the nastiest of them all I've done 2 in 8 years and its something I never ever wish to do again ... Saddest of them all for me was always baby's or young children ..if you was going to get into the profession go and speak to your local under takers they know all the vicars in the old churches etc , good luck .
  6. Beareded munch & I are ready for action , if it comes just be careful lads and lasses .
  7. Pat my fire place was exactly the same as yours and we didn't want to loose the features of the fire place and the tiles , I bought a jotul f100 and sat it on the hearth and bought a L joint to come out of the back and I added a 1m flue pipe and literally just poked it up the chimney , in the beginning I had a few problems with blow back nothing major so I stuffed loads of rock wool around the pipe and now in my opinion it's perfect and the best bit about it when it comes to sweeping the chimney I just lift the fire out completely remove the flue pipe and sweep away , no hassle , also if your worried about insurance or council etc then just tell them the open fire that you use was there when you bought the house , save yourself a fortune and spend it on something else , good luck .
  8. Charging your neighbour ? Don't you like them lol .
  9. I've had At grabbers on my terrano for the last 2 years and I have to say they are superb , i do quite a lot of off roading and I've never got stuck once but I put that down to driving a proper 4x4 ..
  10. We seemed to have enjoyed quite a few moments in previous 6 nations tournaments lol ... Now I can't wait for us all to club together and take on the Aussies .. The Welsh Lions will be roaring !

  13. I asked my 5 yr old daughter if she would like to watch the rugby down my local club and she said yes and got really excited , on the walk down the hil she said "daddy it's going to be a very hard decision to decide what cider to drink today " the wife and I where in stitches .

  15. Biblins lodge is still alive and kicking and the biblins is still a campsite ...Another visit I would highly recommend is king Arthur's caves and seven sisters rocks , come up from the doward and head towards the biblins and park up the top of the hill in the car park and walk down the side of the quarry and you will enter the caves nothing huge but very mythical , walk around the corner to your left and take the footpath to seven sisters rock but be very careful as its sheer drops ( proper bum twitching territory lol ) .
  16. Thanks for the replays , I don't climb but I've hauled around 50 ton of timber this last 2 weeks by hand plus the other problem is my sport as I'm mad on darts.
  17. Searing pain in and around the elbow and also down the fore arm and up into the shoulder , also very often woken up with dull aching arm .
  18. Symonds Yat rock is a must visit if your in the area the views are spectacular , after your visit there take the car and park by the saracens hotel and walk along the side of the river until you come to a swing bridge , cross over the swing bridge and head into a camp site called the biblins , go past the old house called biblins lodge and keep walking down the side of the river until you come to the old salmon house that part of the forest is the most enchanting place in the wye valley in my opinion , trees trees trees and more trees from start to finish .. If I was visiting I would of stayed at biblins lodge in the heart of the forest , good luck .
