I have heard them called topper a few times, mostly I think people are abbreviating the term 'top handled saw'.

I bet the one shown doesn't stand up to hard work for long.

We had someone on the shop the other week call one a 'teapot'...I didn't even bother to ask him why..

Thats really cheap, might be worth a go for leaving in your van as a back up at the very most.

Use it as a distraction saw. Leave it in plain site in the back with the good stuff inside. They will then nick that pile instead of the saws that are actually worth something....

"Topper" a top handled chainsaw.

Doesn't have to specify anything to do with climbing at all. They are just top handled saws.

It is only in the UK that you need to have your feet off the ground to use one of these.

Perhaps the French are generally a little safer than us Brits.

Are my "European Union human rights" infringed, if as a British Citizen, I am not able to buy one of these saws from France.:001_smile:

Doubt they would be that daft!:laugh1:

The French habitually use these on the ground and they are often sold to women as they are small and light:confused1:

There was a moment recently when both our climbing saws where down and I would have snapped this up 'tout de suit' had it been available as it is only 2 days hire cost of a top handle from the local hire shop.

Its a good idea but you would need to cover the MAC Alister name or they will just laugh at it
