Anyone know the reason for the recall? Or any official statement?

Ours has begun to stall during use, and is a pig to restart especially when your on spikes!

The letter my dealer read out just said a lack of power from the engine or words to that effect .....

It means stihl have messed up another perfectly good saw by putting a 1 after it.

Oh how the mighty fall.

Let's not forget the mighty 361! That saw was great, but don't worry they sorted it out with the 362......

Really happy with our 661, although it has begun playing up by stalling whilst idling and is an arse to restart, which is not what you want on spikes chivvying down! And if course it's mtronic....

My 461 is awesome!!!, better I would say than the stollen 460 its replaced.

What I really want is a 660 with the new caps!!

New caps? On a Stihl? Always makes me chuckle when anyone calls them that!:001_rolleyes:

Huck, I cant pass comment on a 461 having never used one, but other than that, Mr Trees has a very valid point. Replacing some of the most popular saws that Stihl had out there say 5 years ago, the 200, 260, 361 and 660 has lost my total faith in them. Combine that with "up their own rear end" attitude, their following is sure dwindling.

I'm trying to think of the most recent Stihl purchases I've made. There's only one really, a 150t. Great little thing, but not a patch on the 192 it "sort of" replaced though:thumbdown:.

Wouldn't stop me buying another 660 if I could get my hands on one though:blushing:

At the moment there is no recall on the 661, they are bringing back the 660 for a while until the 661 has been retested.

There have been a select few with power issues, this is just a few so they have asked us to stop selling them until they sort it. Not even sure if it was any uk saws with the issue as we sold plenty and have had no issues with them.

Hats off to Stihl this time, for having the balls to do this rather then carry on selling them until they worked out the issues. Causing a much bigger problem all round.

Thanks for the response Justin, the only problem is consumer confidence, having a 661 and knowing they have stopped selling them makes me feel that maybe my saw is going to have problems....

Again have to say we are happy with the 661 other than the stalling issue the other day, and the 461's which we have used heavily the last 9 months without issue good solid Stihl.
