this will be the biggest bowl i'm able to do with this walnut.

 

28" wide by 6" deep.

 

 

that's my size 12 boot in the middle.

And there was me feeling smug at turning a 17" bowl this morning, yours blows mine away 👍

Got a really nice elm burr on the lathe atm, just having a coffee whilst the sanding sealer dries, will post a photo once I get a bit of finish o it.

for a blank that weighed 70 kg it was balanced to start with, wish they were all like that.

Finished the elm burr (3 coats of chestnut spray gloss lacquer)

Just under 8 inches at the widest

I have also just turned a few big bowls , ( 18" dia , 8" deep ) Ash mostly and some hollow forms from Ash , some have been scorched and other surface treatments , and another hollow form is spalted in a nice way which is not common with Ash .
