Just wondering what the zz is like in the rain with a wet and dirty rope as most of the north west is like this all year. Does it become hard to move and create a lot of friction and need a lot of cleaning to keep the moving parts from sticking?

Was fine today in the heavy rain and gunk.

Used mine properly or the first time today on a large oak reduction so lots of moving about. I'd like to retract what I said about it being jerky on Yale imori, it was just user error. Now I'm used to it, it's such a smooth device and self tends beautifully with sufficient rope weight below. Awesome piece of kit is my view on the zz and I cannot wait to have another big climb :)

I have never had wear on my ropes with the zig zag

It can happen, it does not affect everyone, it all depends on and how you climb and manage rope deflection.
